Welcome! We are excited to welcome you to the new and revitalized Redwood Empire Dairy Goat Association (REDGA)! We would like to bring you up to date on activities, our non-profit structure, and our enthusiasm for moving forward. We invite you to join us and continue with the dairy goat camaraderie of REDGA that was first formed in 1968.
It became apparent that our By-laws needed updating, our non-profit organization needed to be renewed, and we needed to make official what REDGA had met and decided a few years ago, to become a virtual club with means of communication to stay connected to this modern world. A group of us longtime REDGA members came together and worked on this project. We hired a non-profit attorney to renew our legal documents and bring us into full compliance. Our REDGA member work group updated the By-laws which are now completed with the same purpose of the original founding members, and they are officially: "The specific purposes of the corporation shall include a) Dairy goat outreach and education, b) showcase of dairy goat breeds at the REDGA Memorial Show for the purpose of breed improvement, and c) Encouragement of youth with scholarships, trophies, and educational activities." In addition, the By-laws were updated to include the organizational structure with is now governed by a slate of Board of Directors with 2-year terms. Your slate of Directors is:
The Board of Directors have been hard at work. The Treasurer has consolidated our REDGA bank accounts and moved them to Redwood Credit Union. The show has been moved back to our traditional Memorial Day weekend and will be held at Sonoma County Fairgrounds. This is the new REDGA website where we plan to offer educational and historical information to keep you informed. We will continue our social media Facebook page for the most current announcements. Please feel free to contact your directors with any questions or suggestions regarding REDGA. Become a member (membership is open to all) to join one of the most well-known and longest running dairy goat clubs in the USA. |
